Cruel Summer

O.M.G. GUYS!!! I have the biggest news! So as most of you know, my best friend Betty used to date James, and when I say those two were ENDGAME, I’m not kidding. Literally everyone thought that they were going to be together forever and live happily ever after. But then it all started to go wrong at Junior Prom last year.
Junior Prom
We all know James was way too cool for dances, so I convinced Betty to go stag with me. When James found out about this, he told me his secret plan to surprise her at the dance. He was going to show up in a tux with flowers and chocolates, the whole nine yards. But he LITERALLY showed up at the worst time, when Betty had worked up the confidence to ask another guy to dance to her favorite song. I saw him at the doors, he looked over at them and immediately threw his flowers in the trash and left. I mean, how dramatic is that? For a while after that, they seemed ok on the outside, but was the beginning of the end.

August
That’s why, at last year’s End of the Year party, we were all SHOCKED to see James leave by himself and get into another girls car?????!!?!?!?!?!!! Y’all remember that new girl that showed up at the very end of the year? Yep, it was her. Obviously, I made a post about it here on my blog, but I took it down out of respect for Betty and her mourning at that time. Seriously, she was a wreck. She kept cycling between being sad and angry, and she even wrote a pretty heartbreaking song about it on her guitar. (Link at the end, I promise)

The Party
The summer dragged on forever. One time, I took Betty to the mall to try and cheer her up, but we caught a glimpse around the back of JAMES AND THE NEW GIRL, MAKING OUT. Totally ruined the vibe. By the end of August, she had cooled off enough for me to convince her to host the Back to School party. Her parents were going to be out of town for the weekend, so it was perfect. We invited the whole school, and it was supposed to be the party of the year. We are seniors, so it was the last Back to School party we were ever going to have.
The Garden
Before I go on, I need to let you all in on a little secret. James and Betty had a few romantic go-to spots, if you know what I mean. One of them was his car, and the other was the garden in her backyard. There is a little bench, a few bushes, and plenty of privacy. They used to always go back there and m*ke o*t. Since they broke up, Betty would go back there just to write in her journal and cry. No, I agree, it wasn’t very healthy.

On the Porch in Front of All Our Stupid Friends
Ok, back to the night of the party. We didn’t invite him, but JAMES SHOWED UP. Some people that were hanging out in the front yard saw him riding his skateboard up the street and ran in to warn me. I didn’t have time to find Betty before he got to the porch. I watched anxiously from the window as he hesitated, knocked, and waited. Betty answered the door and my eyes went WIDE. They talked for a second, and then KISSED. IN FRONT OF EVERYBODY. LITERALLY ALL OF US SAW. Guys, when I say I was shook… I couldn’t believe it. Literally so many feelings, so much going on, and then they WENT AROUND HER HOUSE, INTO THE GARDEN. That’s right, THE garden.
If you ask my opinion, James is still a dick. Anyway, here’s the link to Betty’s song, once she made some updates. Warning, you might cry.
